A JOINT RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE THAT UNTIL JULY 1, 2011, THE BOARDS OF TRUSTEES OF SUMTER COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICTS 2 AND 17 MAY NOT ENTER INTO CONTRACTS TO CONSTRUCT BUILDINGS OR OTHERWISE IMPROVE REAL PROPERTY AT A COST OF FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS OR MORE WITHOUT THE APPROVAL OF THE SUMTER CONSOLIDATION TRANSITION COMMITTEE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Approval of contracts
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, beginning upon the effective date of this section and until July 1, 2011, the boards of trustees of Sumter County School Districts 2 and 17 may not enter into contracts to construct buildings or otherwise improve real property at a cost of five hundred thousand dollars or more without the approval of the Sumter Consolidation Transition Committee established in Section 8 of Act 387 of 2008.
Multiple contracts on the same project which are individually less than five hundred thousand dollars but which collectively total or will total over five hundred thousand dollars also require Transition Committee approval as provided in this section.
Time effective
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
Ratified the 10th day of April, 2008.
Approved the 11th day of April, 2008.
