VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE HILLCREST HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE 2007 CLASS AAAA TRADITIONAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACH, AND STAFF.
Whereas, the Rams of Hillcrest High School defeated Fort Dorchester 1071/2-1061/2 on Saturday, February 24, 2007, at Irmo High School in Columbia, to capture the 2007 Class AAAA Traditional State Championship title; and
Whereas, Coach Tommy Bell, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built his wrestling program into a championship team; and
Whereas, this crowning victory caps an excellent season for the Rams both individually and collectively, with standout seniors Michael DeVita and Taylor Lance adding to the team's state win by bringing home individual championships in their respective classes; and
Whereas, as a further salute to their prowess, team members Matt DeVita, Michael DeVita, Zach Moore, Aaron Pettry, and Taylor Lance were selected to wrestle in the 2007 North-South All-Star Match, held in March at Myrtle Beach; and
Whereas, the Rams have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young men. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Hillcrest High School wrestling team for its outstanding season and for capturing the 2007 Class AAAA Traditional State Championship title, and honor the team's exceptional players, coach, and staff.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the principal of Hillcrest High School, Steve Chamness, and Coach Tommy Bell.
