TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE DORCHESTER ACADEMY VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM, OF ST. GEORGE, FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.
Whereas, the Raiders of Dorchester Academy defeated Dillon Christian 35-7 on Friday, November 10, 2006, at Wilson Hall's Spencer Field in Sumter, to capture the South Carolina Independent School Association Class A State Championship title; and
Whereas, Head Coach Stanley Gruber and his assistant coaches, Dwayne Windham, Harry Bowers, Larry Windham, and Anthony McAlhany, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their football program into a championship team; and
Whereas, this crowning victory caps an excellent 10-3 season for the Raiders, and, no strangers to the taste of victory, these players and the coaches of Dorchester Academy deserve tribute for their impressive season and championship win; and
Whereas, in recognition of the six state championships he has earned and his superior coaching, Head Coach Stanley Gruber was named Coach of the Year by Orangeburg's The Times and Democrat and the High School Sports Report; and
Whereas, the Raiders have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the General Assembly is pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young men. Now, therefore,
