A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE C.L. "DUCK" AND SALLY KINARD, OF LEXINGTON COUNTY, ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR MANY MORE YEARS OF BLESSING AND FULFILLMENT.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to learn that C.L. "Duck" and Sally Kinard, of Lexington County, celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary on June 26, 2007; and

Whereas, there is no greater success in life than a marriage and family life that endure the test of time and grow stronger with each passing year; and

Whereas, the long-lasting love and support of a spouse is unmatched in its importance and cannot be overestimated; and

Whereas, Duck and Sally Kinard's commitment to one another over the past fifty years is to be revered and serves as an inspiration to both family and friends; and

Whereas, married at Newberry's Central Methodist Church half a century ago by Rev. Melvin Derrick, Duck and Sally became each other's best friend, and Duck, in full agreement with Proverbs 18:22 (KJV), "Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord," considers one of his crowning achievements as having had the good sense to marry his beloved Sally; and

Whereas, in earlier days, Duck and Sally were active in the Newberry Community Players, Sally playing many lead roles and using her God-given voice to bring much pleasure to the people of Newberry. She shared her talent freely and still does, singing in her choir and at weddings and funerals, never expecting or accepting anything in return; and

Whereas, known for his charm and sense of humor, Duck's trademark laugh and "Duckisms" are a tonic for those around him who need a lift. Both realtors, he and Sally have long been known as people of tremendous integrity, and this foundation of honesty in all relationships has given their clients well-founded trust in their guidance; and

Whereas, dedicated Christians, Duck and Sally together have walked with the Lord through life and demonstrated His love through their daily words and actions. In both trials and blessings, their faith has kept their marriage strong; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the members of the General Assembly express their congratulations to these two special South Carolinians on reaching the milestone of their golden wedding anniversary. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate C.L. "Duck" and Sally Kinard, of Lexington County, on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary and extend best wishes for many more years of blessing and fulfillment.
