A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE MAULDIN HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM FOR A SUCCESSFUL SEASON, AND TO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM AND COACHES FOR CAPPING THE SEASON WITH THE 2007 CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the Mauldin High School cross country Lady Mavericks experienced another banner year, much to the delight of their fans and the disappointment of their rivals; and

Whereas, the Mauldin Lady Mavericks have garnered three consecutive cross country state championship titles, five in the last ten years, and a total of ten championships, and in doing so have proven the ability of their program to sustain excellence over the years; and

Whereas, The Lady Mavericks outdistanced their runner-up competition from Spartanburg, 56-85, and Mauldin had five runners to place in the top 23; and

Whereas, claiming that the closeness and friendship of the team members made the difference, Mauldin's Alyssa Kulik was able to lead her team to the championship; and

Whereas, in a sport that demands endurance, speed, and mental stamina, the coaches of the Mauldin cross country team have forged a championship team through successfully imparting their own athletic skills and experience; and

Whereas, on November 3, 2007, the girls cross country team succeeded in bringing home yet another state championship title, and in so doing have brought pride to their school and their community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Mauldin High School girls cross country team for a successful season, and congratulate the team and coaches for capping the season with the 2007 Class AAAA State Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mauldin High School Principal Ann Miller and Coach Delmer Howell.
