TO EXPRESS HEARTIEST CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SEVENTEEN SOUTH CAROLINA TECHNICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS NAMED TO SOUTH CAROLINA'S 2008 ALL-STATE ACADEMIC TEAM IN THE ALL-USA ACADEMIC TEAM COMPETITION FOR TECHNICAL COLLEGES, COMMUNITY COLLEGES, AND JUNIOR COLLEGES, SPONSORED BY PHI THETA KAPPA, THE INTERNATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY OF THE TWO-YEAR COLLEGE, THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY COLLEGES, AND USA TODAY.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are proud to host the seventeen members of the South Carolina 2008 All-State Academic Team at the State House on Tuesday, March 4, 2008; and
Whereas, these outstanding students from South Carolina's technical colleges were chosen to become a part of the team by technical college presidents on the basis of academic performance, leadership accomplishments, and service to their colleges and local communities, with no more than two members selected from a particular college campus; and
Whereas, the students' outstanding records make them worthy representatives of this State and bring great pride to their families and communities; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations so that they may congratulate these outstanding South Carolina technical college students. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express heartiest congratulations to the seventeen South Carolina technical college students named to South Carolina's 2008 All-State Academic Team in the All-USA Academic Team Competition for technical colleges, community colleges, and junior colleges, sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society of the Two-Year College, the American Association of Community Colleges, and USA Today.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to each member of the South Carolina 2008 All-State Academic Team.
