A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE OAKBROOK PREPARATORY SCHOOL "LADY KNIGHTS" SOCCER TEAM, OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY, ON ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2008 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS 1A/2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, fully ready for the challenge, the Oakbrook Preparatory School "Lady Knights" soccer team crowned its superlative 13-1-1 season by capturing the 2008 South Carolina Independent School Association Class 1A/2A State Championship title, defeating Beaufort Academy 3-0; and

Whereas, excitement over this title win was especially intense because it made school history, marking Oakbrook's first state girls soccer championship, as well as the school's first state championship in any sport; and

Whereas, in only their second year of varsity competition, the Lady Knights demonstrated top-drawer strength, agility, and skill, as well as finely honed team effort and good sportsmanship; and

Whereas, using these talents and attributes, the team, under the capable leadership of Coach Liz Myers, showed fans and foes alike that the Lady Knights' championship victory was no accident; and

Whereas, adding luster to an already stellar season, senior Casey Bolduc, team captain, was named All-Region, All-Tournament, and All-State Most Valuable Player and became the first Oakbrook athlete to sign a letter of intent to play college soccer. She will play for Charleston Southern University this fall; and

Whereas, in addition, Taylor Schulte and Tiffany Hill were named to the All-Region, All-Tournament, and All-State teams, and Charlotte Holbein was named to the All-Region and All-Tournament teams. Coach Liz Myers was celebrated as All-Region and All-State Coach of the Year; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing the young women of the Oakbrook Preparatory School girls soccer team for leading with excellence both in the classroom and on the soccer field, and the members expect to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate the Oakbrook Preparatory School "Lady Knights" soccer team, of Spartanburg County, on its outstanding season and impressive win of the 2008 South Carolina Independent School Association Class 1A/2A State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Director Steve Smith and Coach Liz Myers, of Oakbrook Preparatory School.
