VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE WREN HIGH SCHOOL "LADY HURRICANES" SOFTBALL TEAM, OF ANDERSON COUNTY, ON ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2008 CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, fully ready for the challenge, the Wren High School "Lady Hurricanes" softball team crowned an excellent season by capturing the 2008 Class AAAA State Championship title, defeating Stratford 4-0; and
Whereas, excitement over this title win was especially intense because it made school history, marking Wren's first state softball championship and only the fourth state championship in any sport for the school; and
Whereas, the championship game demonstrated the Lady Hurricanes' top-drawer strength, agility, and skill, as well as finely-tuned team effort and good sportsmanship; and
Whereas, using these talents and attributes, the team, under the capable leadership of Coach Lynn Hicks and her assistants, Coach Katie King and Coach Bryan Davis, showed fans and foes alike that the Lady Canes' winning victory was no accident; and
Whereas, adding luster to an already stellar season, the team was nationally recognized a few weeks into its schedule as number fourteen in the country; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing the young women of the Wren High School softball team for leading with excellence both in the classroom and on the softball field and expects to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate the Wren High School "Lady Hurricanes" softball team, of Anderson County, on its outstanding season and impressive win of the 2008 Class AAAA State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Principal G. Robert Binnicker and Coach Lynn Hicks, of Wren High School.
