AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 476 OF 1969, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE VALLEY PUBLIC SERVICE AUTHORITY IN AIKEN COUNTY, SO AS TO ADD TWO MEMBERS TO THE GOVERNING BOARD OF THE AUTHORITY AND TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR TERMS AND MANNER OF APPOINTMENT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The first paragraph of Section 2 of Act 476 of 1969, as last amended by Act 1218 of 1970, is further amended to read:
"The authority shall be comprised of eleven members who shall be resident electors of Aiken County and who reside in the service area. All members of the authority shall be appointed by the Governor, upon the recommendation of a majority of the legislative delegation. Of those recommended for original appointment, three shall be appointed for terms of two years, three for terms of four years, and three for a term of six years. Upon the termination of the terms of the original members, their successors shall be appointed by the Governor, in the same manner as is provided for the original appointment, for terms of six years. Any vacancy occurring by reason of death, resignation, or otherwise shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term by appointment of the Governor upon the recommendation of a majority of the legislative delegation. All members of the authority shall hold office until their successors shall have been appointed and shall have qualified.
The two additional members of the authority shall be appointed in the manner provided in this section for terms of six years each and until their successors are appointed and qualify."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
