VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE MR. GEORGE H. BROWN ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS CHAIRMAN OF THE WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND TO WISH HIM WELL AS HE ENTERS A MUCH DESERVED RETIREMENT.
Whereas, the members of the Senate are pleased to learn that Mr. George H. Brown will begin a well-deserved retirement after more than eight years of service as chairman of the Williamsburg County Democratic Party; and
Whereas, Mr. Brown is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University where he earned a degree in business administration. Prior to attending Coastal Carolina University, Mr. Brown attended Marshall University on a football scholarship. He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; and
Whereas, Mr. Brown is a distinguished veteran of the United States Army. He spent thirty years working for International Paper, finishing his tenure with the company as a manger for business analysis; and
Whereas, Mr. Brown is a member of Chavis AME Church, where he faithfully serves in many capacities. He is actively involved in his community, serving the Boys and Girls Club of Williamsburg County, the Williamsburg County School System, the Williamsburg County Recreations Department, the Georgetown County United Way, and the Florence Hustler's AAU Basketball; and
Whereas, Mr. Brown has been involved with the Williamsburg County Democratic Party for many years. He served as 2nd Vice Chairman from 2008 to 2010, as County Chairman from 2010 to 2016, and was a state delegate to the 2012 Democratic Party National Convention; and
Whereas, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the community, Mr. Brown received the Service and Leadership Award for his service as Chairman of the Board of Directors and the National Service to Youth Award from Boys and Girls Clubs; the Outstanding Service to Community Award from the National Council of Negro Women; the Member of the Year Award and the Service Award as Steward Pro Tempore from Chavis AME Church; and
Whereas, Mr. Brown is married to Debra Gordon Brown. They were blessed with four children, the late Cedric, George II, Shanna, and Darius, and three grandchildren, Hayden, Jordan, and Zaria BreAnn; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate are pleased to recognize Mr. Brown for his outstanding contributions to those througout Williamsburg County as well as his service to the Williamsburg County Democratic Party. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Mr. George H. Brown on the occasion of his retirement as chairman of the Williamsburg County Democratic Party and wish him well as he enters a much deserved retirement.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. George H. Brown.
