VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE NANCY B. "LINDY" BRUNSON OF CLARENDON HALL UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HER FOR FORTY-FIVE YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS AN EDUCATOR, AND TO WISH HER MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the South Carolina House of Representatives honors those individuals who give tirelessly of themselves to the welfare of this great state's most important legacy, its children; and
Whereas, Clarendon Hall's Nancy B. "Lindy" Brunson, retiring after forty-five fruitful years as a classroom teacher, guidance counselor, and volunteer, stands among their number as an outstanding public benefactor, one much admired in her role as an educator; and
Whereas, having graduated from State High School in 1962, she pursued higher education at Winthrop University and graduated in 1965 from that institution; and
Whereas, in 1971, Mrs. Brunson began her service at Clarendon Hall as a business teacher. During her forty-five years of service, she has taken on many positions and responsibilities beyond her classroom role, including, but not limited to, coordinator of the school's largest fundraiser, PTA coordinator, programs chair, senior counselor, guidance counselor, and interim headmaster; and
Whereas, for the past three years, she has served as part-time guidance counselor. This work she tackles officially two days a week, but unofficially this dedicated lady works at Clarendon Hall every day. Known affectionately to many friends of Clarendon as "Aunt Lindy" or "MeMe," she also takes charge of graduation and, in so doing, demonstrates a highly developed ingenuity in acquiring or borrowing whatever is needed for that important event from willing neighbors and local businesses; and
Whereas, of the approximately fifty years of Clarendon Hall's existence, Lindy Brunson has served forty-five. In that time, her allegiance to Clarendon Hall has never wavered, and she is considered the cornerstone of the school; and
Whereas, at home, Lindy and her husband of nearly fifty years, Don, raised a fine family of three children, Cagney, Shannon, and Shane, who have given their parents the joy of seven delightful grandchildren; and
Whereas, during her well-earned retirement, the House trusts Mrs. Brunson will find herself more frequently able to travel, spend time with family and friends, and cheer on the Clemson Tigers; and
Whereas, having set the bar of achievement high in her profession, Lindy Brunson will be remembered with affection and gratitude by colleagues, students, parents, and legislative friends for years to come. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Nancy B. "Lindy" Brunson of Clarendon Hall upon the occasion of her retirement, commend her for forty-five years of dedicated service as an educator, and wish her much happiness and fulfillment in all her future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Nancy B. "Lindy" Brunson.
