A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR TONY MCDONALD, COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR FOR RICHLAND COUNTY, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER YEARS OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, it is altogether fitting and proper that the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina should pause in their deliberations to express their gratitude to Tony McDonald for his significant contributions to Richland County; and

Whereas, under his leadership, Richland County has announced more than three hundred million dollars in new capital investment and 1,474 new jobs since 2012, representing significant announcements from industries and corporations such as JTEXT/Koyo Bearings, McEntire Produce, Dayton Rogers, Ritedose Corporation, Rhythmlink, Total Quality Logistics, and GIS; and

Whereas, Mr. McDonald supervised the one billion dollar Transportation Penny Program Ballot Initiative and Program, and voters approved the Transportation Penny referendum in November 2012, after which penny collections began in 2013; and

Whereas, to house the Central Court and Sheriff's Substation, Mr. McDonald supervised the design and construction of the Decker Center, a project of more that twenty-five million dollars; and

Whereas, he directed the design and renovation of the new coroner's facility, a two and one-half million dollar project, and the streamlining of Development Services, which includes permitting, zoning, business licensing, and other county services; and

Whereas, Mr. McDonald has been honored with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Governmental Accounting Standards Board for all his years of service and with the Barrett Lawrimore Memorial Regional Cooperation Award for creating a partnership with Pawmetto Lifeline in Lexington County; and

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is grateful for the years of dedication during which Tony McDonald has administered Richland County, and the members wish him many years of enjoyment in his well-earned retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Tony McDonald, County Administrator for Richland County, upon the occasion of his retirement after years of exemplary service, and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Tony McDonald.
