TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND SOUTH CAROLINA'S FFA MEMBERS (FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA) AND ALL WHO SUPPORT, PROMOTE, AND ENCOURAGE THESE OUTSTANDING STUDENTS OF AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION AND TO JOIN THEM IN THE OBSERVANCE OF NATIONAL FFA WEEK, FEBRUARY 18-25, 2017.
Whereas, the FFA is a national organization of over five-hundred-fifty-thousand students of agricultural education in secondary schools, technical colleges, and universities with chapters in all fifty states, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands; and
Whereas, FFA members, upon graduating from high school, are prepared for one of more than three-hundred career opportunities available in science, business, or technology of agriculture; and
Whereas, South Carolina's FFA members are recognized nationally for their quality agricultural training, leadership abilities, academic achievements, and community service; and
Whereas, South Carolina's agricultural educators are known and respected throughout the nation for their exemplary leadership in the planning and implementation of superb programs on behalf of FFA members; and
Whereas, the FFA organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of its members by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and commend South Carolina's FFA members (formerly known as the Future Farmers of America) and all who support, promote, and encourage these outstanding students of agricultural education and join them in the observance of National FFA Week, February 18-25, 2017.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the appropriate FFA officials in South Carolina.
