A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE ELIZABETH DICKERSON BRANHAM OF LEXINGTON COUNTY ON HER ELECTION AS PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION.

Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to learn that ElizaBeth Dickerson Branham of Lexington County will be installed in March 2019 as the seventy-second president of the National School Boards Association (NSBA). She will be the first NSBA president from South Carolina; and

Whereas, during her term of office as NSBA president, Beth will represent the organization's more than 90,000 school board members, who govern 13,809 school districts serving our nation's 50 million public school students; and

Whereas, currently, Beth serves as a member of the Lexington District Two Board of Trustees, to which she was elected in 2000. In addition, she was elected to the South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA) Board of Directors in 2008 and served as SCSBA president in 2014; and

Whereas, Beth Branham believes strongly in obtaining a good education. Having graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School, she earned a bachelor's degree in English from Boston University and a juris doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law; and

Whereas, this former English teacher is now an attorney at Beth Branham Law in West Columbia, and she and her husband, Keith, are the proud parents of four children; and

Whereas, because she feels all of us should actively participate in the community, Beth is a member of a number of local organizations. As a woman of faith, she worships at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. She is also a member of the West Metro Chamber of Commerce, Airport High School Education Foundation (governing board member), and Brookland-Cayce High School Education Foundation; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in honoring Beth Branham on the occasion of her election as president of the NSBA and in extending best wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate ElizaBeth Dickerson Branham of Lexington County on her election as president of the National School Boards Association.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to ElizaBeth Dickerson Branham.
