VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE DR. ROBIN L. COLETRAIN, PRINCIPAL OF W.A. PERRY MIDDLE SCHOOL IN RICHLAND COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT ONE, ON BEING NAMED 2020 SOUTH CAROLINA MIDDLE LEVEL PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly note with pleasure that Lake City native Dr. Robin L. Coletrain, principal of W.A. Perry Middle School in Richland County School District One, has been named 2020 South Carolina Middle Level Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators; and
Whereas, Dr. Coletrain's faculty, students, and administrative colleagues are in no way surprised by this recognition, as she is an exemplar of those qualities that make a superb educator and administrator: leadership, ability to motivate, and a collaborative style, to all of which she also brings energy and enthusiasm; and
Whereas, involved in public education for twenty-one years, Dr. Coletrain has been employed with Richland One for eighteen years. Currently, she is in her fourth year as principal of W.A. Perry Middle School. Previously, she served as assistant principal at Hand Middle School and Olympia Learning Center. Dr. Coletrain's teaching background is in special education, in which field she served as a special education consultant and special education teacher; and
Whereas, in preparation for her life's work, Robin Coletrain earned a bachelor's degree from South Carolina State University in political science, followed by a master's degree in special education from Howard University and a doctor of philosophy in educational leadership from Capella University; and
Whereas, away from her duties at W.A. Perry, Dr. Coletrain serves on the University of South Carolina Museum of Education's Advisory Board and Colonial Life's Educators' Leadership Experience Advisory Board. Moreover, she has served in the capacity of co-leader and parent volunteer with the Girl Scouts for sixteen years; and
Whereas, this dedicated educator is passionate about providing innovative solutions to the challenges students face in seeking to be competitive in today's society. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and traveling. Further, Dr. Coletrain is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the proud mother of a daughter; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations so that they may add their voices to the accolades being showered on Dr. Robin Coletrain, newly named 2020 South Carolina Middle Level Principal of the Year. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Dr. Robin L. Coletrain, principal of W.A. Perry Middle School in Richland County School District One, on being named 2020 South Carolina Middle Level Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Robin L. Coletrain.
