VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR CODY FLEMING FOR AN EXTRAORDINARY WRESTLING CAREER AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM FOR WINNING THE 2020 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS 2A/1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Cody Fleming of Greenwood County took home the gold medal from the state tournament held on February 29, 2020; and
Whereas, a senior at Ninety Six High School, Cody defeated Chandler Crumley of Whitmire High School with an early takedown, pinning him with fifty seconds remaining in the match, in the 220-pound weight class at the state finals; and
Whereas, with his proud father, Kevin Fleming, cheering him on, Cody completed a remarkable season for the Ninety Six Wildcats by taking his third state championship medal and ended his four-year career with three gold medals and one silver in state competition; and
Whereas, in a sport demanding individual excellence and mental fortitude, Cody maximized his strength and determination to complete an outstanding season and to learn lessons, in the process, that will prove invaluable through life both on and off the mats; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate the pride and recognition that Cody Fleming has brought to his school and his community and look to hear of his continued success in the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Cody Fleming for an extraordinary wrestling career and congratulate him for winning the 2020 South Carolina Class 2A/1A State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Cody Fleming.
