VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE LIEUTENANT CLAYTON JOHNSON OF THE VARNVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER THIRTY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives have learned that Clayton Johnson began a well-deserved retirement on July 22, 2020, after thirty years as a law enforcement officer, the last thirteen years of which have been as a highly regarded lieutenant with the Varnville Police Department; and
Whereas, born in Estill, he graduated from Estill High School and entered a career in law enforcement with the Yemassee Police Department; and
Whereas, Lieutenant Johnson joined the Hampton County Sheriff's Office where he attained the rank of Major before joining the Estill Police Department and serving for a time as the Assistant Chief of Police; and
Whereas, before he joined the Varnville Police Department, he returned briefly to the Hampton County Sheriff's Office; and
Whereas, Lieutenant Johnson's extensive education in law enforcement includes training in narcotics, investigations, and other detective training; and
Whereas, together with his beloved wife, Barbara Ann Johnson, he has three fine children, and he plans to spend many happy hours of retirement with his family, as well as enjoying his farming and hunting; and
Whereas, grateful for his many years of distinguished service to protect and safeguard the citizens of our State, the South Carolina House of Representatives takes great pleasure in extending best wishes to Clayton Johnson as he transitions to a richly deserved retirement and the leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Lieutenant Clayton Johnson of the Varnville Police Department, upon the occasion of his retirement after thirty years of outstanding service in law enforcement, and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Lieutenant Clayton Johnson.
