TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE MEMBERS OF THE GREENVILLE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD FOR THEIR DEDICATED LABORS ON BEHALF OF THE SCHOOLCHILDREN OF GREENVILLE COUNTY.
Whereas, the mission of the public schools is to meet the diverse educational needs of all children and empower them to become competent, productive contributors to a democratic society and an ever-changing world; and
Whereas, local school board members are committed to children and believe that all children can be successful learners and that the best education is tailored to the individual needs of the child; and
Whereas, working closely with parents, educational professionals, and other community members, local school board members seek to create the educational vision we want for our students; and
Whereas, local school board members are responsible for ensuring the structure that provides a solid foundation for our school system; and
Whereas, as strong advocates for public education, local school board members are responsible for communicating the needs of the school district to the public and the public's expectations to the district; and
Whereas, the members of the Greenville County School Board are Debi C. Bush, Roy Z. Chamlee III, Michelle Goodwin-Calwile, Joy Grayson, Lynda Leventis-Wells (vice-chairman), Derek Lewis, Roger D. Meek, Glenda Morrison-Fair (secretary), Crystal Ball O'Connor, Charles J. "Chuck" Saylors (chairman), Patrick L. Sudduth, and Lisa H. Wells; and
Whereas, the month of January is School Board Recognition Month in the State of South Carolina and, therefore, an especially appropriate time to salute members of our hard-working school boards. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the members of the Greenville County School Board for their dedicated labors on behalf of the schoolchildren of Greenville County.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Greenville County School Board.
