VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO EXPRESS PROFOUND SORROW UPON THE PASSING OF HENRY CLYDE HARRISON, JR. AND TO EXTEND OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Henry Clyde Harrison, Jr. on December 12, 2021, at the age of eighty-nine years old; and
Whereas, a native of Greenville, Henry was born on February 21, 1932 to parents Clyde and Pauline Harrison. He grew up in the Sans Souci community and graduated from Parker High School; and
Whereas, Henry began his career in Cherokee County when he joined the Highway Patrol. He quickly distinguished himself as an officer who was there to serve others; he treated every person he came across with dignity and respect, and he adhered to his goal of keeping the roads safe for the citizens who used them; and
Whereas, in 1975, Henry retired from his role as a Highway Patrol Sergeant to start his own company. A true entrepreneur and a success story, he began his company, American Security, now American Services, from his home, and it quickly expanded into a corporation that employs over three thousand people. Henry served as the Chairman of the Board and the CEO of American Services until his passing; and
Whereas, a devout Christian, Henry was known to say, "The good Lord gives everyone one hundred and sixty-eight hours a week; how we use them is up to us." He devoted many of his personal hours to helping others; and
Whereas, a compassionate person, Henry had the ability to help people work together to find solutions to their problems, fostering relationships with people in all stations of life. He was a giant of a man with a gentle spirit, demonstrating kindness and a generous heart; and
Whereas, Henry leaves to cherish his memory his love and life partner, Tracy Lamb; his children, Randy Harrison, Carole Ann Owens, Pauline Joy Green, and Austin Harrison; his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. He will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon the passing of Henry Clyde Harrison, Jr. and extend our deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Henry Clyde Harrison, Jr.
