A BILL

TO AMEND ACT 259 OF 1961, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE HARTSVILLE COMMUNITY CENTER BUILDING COMMISSION, TO INCREASE THE COMMISSION'S MEMBERSHIP FROM THREE TO FIVE MEMBERS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    The second section of an article added in SECTION 1 of Act 259 of 1961 is amended to read:

"Section 2.    The commission shall be composed of three five individuals who shall reside in Hartsville Township and be qualified electors of Darlington County. They shall be appointed and commissioned by the Governor upon the recommendation of a majority of the Darlington County Legislative Delegation. One shall be appointed for an initial term ending on the first day of April, 1962, one for an initial term ending on the first day of April, 1964, and one for an initial term ending on the first day of April, 1966, or until their successors shall have been appointed and qualified. Upon the expiration of the respective terms of the original commissioners, their successors shall be appointed and commissioned by the Governor upon the recommendation of a majority of the Darlington County Legislative Delegation for terms of six years. In case of a vacancy, it shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term only. Upon appointment and qualification, the commissioners shall organize by electing one of their members as chairman and another as secretary. The members chosen as chairman and secretary shall serve in such capacities until the expiration of their respective terms or until the sooner termination of their services as commissioners, except that the commissioners by vote of two-thirds of the entire commission may at any time effect changes in the offices of chairman and secretary."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
