VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO COMMEND THE HONORABLE RUSSELL W. FRY FOR HIS SEVEN YEARS OF COMMITTED SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF HOUSE DISTRICT 106 IN HORRY COUNTY AND TO WISH HIM SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, for seven years and with great integrity, the Honorable Russell W. Fry has represented the citizens of Horry County's District 106 in the House of Representatives of this great State; and
Whereas, born in Surfside Beach, Russell was blessed with parents who taught him from an early age that with hard work and a good education, the American Dream was within reach. He experienced that journey to the American Dream firsthand as a child, living in a cinderblock home with no heat or air conditioning, as his parents struggled from paycheck to paycheck, saving when they could and tightening their belts when they had to; and
Whereas, in initial preparation for his life's work, this Eagle Scout and Socastee High School alumnus graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in political science and a minor in business administration; and
Whereas, before being elected to guard the faith, families, and freedom of his fellow citizens, Russell practiced law along the Grand Strand. He worked his way through Charleston School of Law, where he served as president of the Student Bar Association, helped the school achieve its American Bar Association accreditation, and received the prestigious Civility Award; and
Whereas, in 2015, Russell Fry was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives, where he has proven his value as a member of various committees, most recently the Judiciary Committee. Further, as Chief Majority Whip, Russell was instrumental in passing the Open Carry Act (the biggest advancement in Second Amendment rights in twenty-five years) and the Fetal Heartbeat Bill (the strongest prolife legislation ever approved by the General Assembly). Russell also helped shepherd through the South Carolina House the Religion Is Essential Act, which prevents government from closing our churches' doors, and he co-sponsored bills to expand school choice, ban vaccine passports, save women's sports, close primaries from crossover political meddling, require identification to vote via absentee ballot, and establish term limits to end career politicians; and
Whereas, in the firm support of his family, Russell finds strength to carry out his duties. He and his lovely wife, Bronwen, are the proud parents of a young son, James, and the Frys find their spiritual home at Palmetto Shores Church. They reside in Murrells Inlet with one more member of the family, their chocolate lab, Jasper; and
Whereas, Russell W. Fry's colleagues in the House of Representatives, understanding that he will not seek re-election, thank him for his dedicated service to the people of District 106 and extend heartiest wishes for all the best life has to offer in the coming years. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend the Honorable Russell W. Fry for his seven years of committed service to the citizens of House District 106 in Horry County and wish him success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Russell W. Fry.
