VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
A bill
to amend the South Carolina Code of Laws by amending Section 8-11-160, relating to THE AGENCY HEAD SALARY COMMISSION, so as to PROVIDE THAT A SALARY INCREASE SHALL NOT BECOME EFFECTIVE UNTIL APPROVED BY A MAJORITY OF EACH HOUSE OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN SEPARATE VOTES HELD ONLY ON THE QUESTION OF EACH INDIVIDUAL INCREASE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 8-11-160(D) of the S.C. Code is amended to read:
(D) Salary increases for agency heads must be based on recommendations by each agency board or commission to the Agency Head Salary Commission and their recommendations to the General Assembly; however, a salary increase shall not become effective until approved by a majority of the Senate and a majority of the House of Representatives in separate votes held only on the question of each individual increase.
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
