A senate RESOLUTION
TO congratulate Reed "rusty" charpia II, to commend him FOR HIS many seasons OF DEDICATED SERVICE to the brookland-cayce athletic community, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS AHEAD.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to congratulate Reed "Rusty" Charpia II on his many years of success as the Brookland-Cayce football coach; and
Whereas, Coach Charpia is an alumnus of Clemson University, where he played football and baseball; and
Whereas, the longtime coach and school athletic director officially retired from Brookland-Cayce two years ago but stayed on to help Brookland-Cayce through the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years; and
Whereas, Coach Charpia has been the head football coach at Brookland-Cayce since 2011. He led the Bearcats to four regional titles and state semifinal appearances in 2016, 2017, and 2023. The 2016 regional title was the program's first since 2003. The 2016 team won a school-record twelve games; and
Whereas, Coach Charpia leaves as the school's all-time winningest coach with ninety-two victories, including sixteen postseason victories. Before his arrival, the school had not won a playoff game since 2004; and
Whereas, Coach Charpia also served as the school's baseball coach for several seasons, during which time he led the team to back-to-back regional baseball championships; and
Whereas, Coach Charpia has also represented Brookland-Cayce as a coach in the North-South and Shrine Bowl. He has contributed greatly to the athletic programs and the overall culture of Brookland-Cayce. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Reed "Rusty" Charpia II, commend him for his many years of dedicated service to the Brookland-Cayce athletic community, and wish him much happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Reed "Rusty" Charpia II.
