A house RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND LEXINGTON TECHNOLOGY CENTER FOR THE TRANSFORMATIVE IMPACT THE INSTITUTION HAS HAD ON LEGIONS OF STUDENTS AND ALUMNI, THE COMMUNITY, THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AND BEYOND FOR A HALF CENTURY AND TO CONGRATULATE LEXINGTON TECHNOLOGY CENTER ON THE RECENT CELEBRATION OF ITS FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY.

Whereas, fall 2024 marked an important milestone in Lexington Technology Center's history: the fiftieth anniversary of the institution's 1974 founding and of its service to the Midlands of South Carolina. To commemorate the occasion, Lexington Technology Center (LTC), located in Lexington, South Carolina, held a special celebratory event on August 22, 2024; and

Whereas, each year, LTC serves approximately two thousand students from Gilbert, Lexington, Pelion, River Bluff, and White Knoll high schools on its campus, focusing on teaching specialized career development courses. The center is also the central hub of Career and Technology Education (CTE) for Lexington One and supports curriculum coordination for CTE courses at each of the five area high schools; and

Whereas, Lexington Technology Center, which is designated as the Lexington One Center for Advanced STEM Studies, currently offers thirty-two program areas of specialized training and is expanding every year. Each area has its own advisory council to work with the center's administrative advisory council, faculty and staff, and community business partners. LTC is proud to partner with more than one hundred fifty community members serving on these councils; and

Whereas, recognized locally, statewide, and nationally as a School of Excellence, Lexington Technology Center has received the Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School Award and Palmetto Gold Award. LTC students have held both state and national positions in various school organizations and consistently win district, state, and national recognition for their superior skills and content knowledge. Moreover, faculty and staff members at LTC are continually recognized for their outstanding performance and dedication to supporting students with highly specific and highly versatile life skills and career skills; and

Whereas, Lexington Technology Center's solid foundation in the past and its vision for excellence in the future together ensure that the students it serves will always be well prepared for the workforce when they graduate from high school; and

Whereas, it is a great pleasure to salute Lexington Technology Center on the celebration of its fiftieth anniversary and a joy to extend to this fine institution best wishes for many more years of serving the citizens of this great State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend Lexington Technology Center for the transformative impact the institution has had on legions of students and alumni, the community, the State of South Carolina, and beyond for a half century and congratulate Lexington Technology Center on the recent celebration of its fiftieth anniversary.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Bryce Myers, director of Lexington Technology Center, on behalf of the school.
