A concurrent RESOLUTION
to recognize and honor Ms. Genevieve Jordan Smith for her significant contributions to and participation in the horry electric cooperative, Inc., and to congratulate her upon being named the Cooperative's 2025 lady of the year.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to learn that Ms. Genevieve Jordan Smith has been honored with the Horry Electric Cooperative, Inc., 2025 Lady of the Year Award; and
Whereas, born and raised in Horry County, she has been associated with Horry Electric Cooperative most of her life; and
Whereas, Ms. Smith was born in Conway. She grew up in a large family with eleven siblings. She worked long days on the family farm where she developed an outstanding work ethic. She learned commitment, perseverance, communication, respect, and leadership skills throughout those years; and
Whereas, she began working a public job after she married. Ms. Smith worked at Horry Electric for forty-four years, where she retired in 2012. While she worked full-time, she also assisted her husband with their family farm. Ms. Smith instilled the same positive qualities in her children that she learned as a child; and
Whereas, Ms. Smith is an active member of Juniper Bay Baptist Church in Conway where she has served on the Bereavement Committee. She is someone who actively participates in her community and church whenever there is a need; and
Whereas, her strong faith and belief in God are the mainstays of her life. She is a very kind, humble soul; and
Whereas, deeply grateful for her dedication to rural life and her significant contributions to Horry Electric Cooperative, the General Assembly takes great pleasure in saluting Ms. Smith as the Horry Electric Cooperative 2025 Lady of the Year. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor Ms. Genevieve Jordan Smith for her significant contributions to and participation in the Horry Electric Cooperative, Inc., and congratulate her upon being named the cooperative's 2025 Lady of the Year.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Ms. Genevieve Jordan Smith.
