A house RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR MIKE CALLAHAN FOR HIS FIVE YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO DUKE ENERGY AND THE CITIZENS OF SOUTH CAROLINA IN HIS CAPACITY AS THE CORPORATION'S SOUTH CAROLINA STATE PRESIDENT AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS IN HIS NEW POSITION AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND TREASURER OF DUKE ENERGY.
Whereas, since 2002, Duke Energy has enjoyed the benefit of the dedication, experience, and leadership of Mike Callahan. Having rendered five years of outstanding service in his capacity as the corporation's South Carolina state president, Mike recently stepped down from this post and took up new duties as the corporation's senior vice president and treasurer; and
Whereas, for Mike, whose previous leadership roles have been instrumental in preparing him for this new chapter in his career, the move is a return to the financial side of the corporation. Prior to his work as South Carolina state president, he was vice president of investor relations, overseeing Duke Energy's investor relations and shareholder services organizations. He also served as director of regulated utilities forecasting for Duke Energy, where he was responsible for preparing and consolidating regulated utility forecasts to support financial planning and strategic decision-making activities; and
Whereas, Julie Janson, executive vice president and CEO for Duke Energy Carolinas, had these words of praise for Mike Callahan: "I am proud of the many accomplishments Mike and his team have achieved in South Carolina. Over the past five years, he spearheaded Duke Energy's efforts to support communities and customers during the pandemic. He also guided critical grassroots community relations initiatives and helped lead company engagement with numerous state and local organizations during storm restoration efforts, including most recently when Helene battered the State"; and
Whereas, Duke Energy, a Fortune 150 company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, is one of America's largest energy-holding companies. Duke Energy's electric utilities serve 8.4 million customers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, and these utilities collectively own 54,800 megawatts of energy capacity. The company's natural gas utilities serve 1.7 million customers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio, and Kentucky; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House, grateful for Mike Callahan's consistent commitment and excellence in his labors, take great pleasure in wishing him continued success as he serves in the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Mike Callahan for his five years of distinguished service to Duke Energy and the citizens of South Carolina in his capacity as the corporation's South Carolina state president and wish him much success in his new position as senior vice president and treasurer of Duke Energy.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mike Callahan.
