A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR Boeing South Carolina for being a manufacturing company that brings great pride to the State of South Carolina.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize The Boeing Company, Boeing South Carolina for its contributions to the manufacturing landscape of South Carolina; and

 

Whereas, Boeing South Carolina is a manufacturer located in North Charleston. The company has been in operation in the State since 2009; and

 

Whereas, Boeing South Carolina is home to a highly-skilled workforce of over eight thousand employees, all of whom play a vital role in the assembly and production of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, one of the most advanced and efficient commercial aircrafts in aviation history; and

 

Whereas, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner has set remarkable manufacturing milestones. The global fleet of over one thousand airplanes connects the world more efficiently and comfortably. The 787 family has secured nearly two thousand total orders from eighty-nine customers and has carried over nine hundred seventy million passengers; and

 

Whereas, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a testament to advanced manufacturing and is the best-selling passenger widebody aircraft in aviation, offering a game-changing combination of fuel efficiency, range flexibility, and passenger comfort; and

 

Whereas, Boeing is a dedicated corporate citizen in South Carolina, investing more than one hundred million dollars in charitable initiatives that support education, arts and culture, health and human services, civic engagement, and environmental sustainability. Through its DreamLearners program, Boeing has reached over one million South Carolina students, inspiring future generations through hands-on learning and virtual STEM education opportunities; and

 

Whereas, there are more than six thousand manufacturing facilities in South Carolina, all producing world-class products. Boeing South Carolina was nominated and advanced to the Top Four round in the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance's 2025 Manufacturing Madness: The Coolest Thing Made in SC contest, standing out among over one hundred fifty nominated products; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate greatly appreciate the dedication and commitment that The Boeing Company, Boeing South Carolina has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and honor The Boeing Company, Boeing South Carolina for being a manufacturing company that brings great pride to the State of South Carolina.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the president and CEO of The Boeing Company, Kelly Ortberg.
