the South Carolina Legislature Online!

Our intent is to “connect students with the South Carolina Legislature” by providing online resources relative to our State and the Legislature.  If you’ve ever wondered what our legislature does and how it involves you, this is the site for you.

Our “what goes on here” section introduces you to the current members of the Legislature.  You’ll learn what Representatives and Senators do and how they go about making laws.  You can also check out examples of how students just
like you turned a fun idea into law.

Would you like to tour the State House online, see the portrait collections in the House and Senate Chambers or see what treasures are found on the State House grounds?  It’s all available under “explore the State House.”

Cool stuff….that’s always fun, right?  Browse our list of the official State symbols and emblems, such as the State Flag and the State Tree and discover many interesting facts significant to our state.  It’s all available under “cool stuff.”

We offer several educational and participatory opportunities for you to connect with the South Carolina Legislature in our “give me a hand section.”  For instance, write or email your legislators to “get involved” in the legislative process.

Lastly, our “what’s happening” section provides frequent updates and news you need to know about.  Also, tune in to the South Carolina Legislature’s “live broadcast” of their sessions!
