A Bill to amend the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, by adding Section 19-11-95 so as to define health care professional, to provide that medical information concerning the physical or mental condition of a patient is privileged information, to provide instances in which the privilege is waived as to the health care professional, to provide that a health care professional is not liable for the release of the information to authorized persons, to establish persons who may claim the privilege on behalf of the patient, and to provide that a patient has a cause of action against a physician or psychologist who violates the privilege.
