Summary: Recognition of Emergency Medical Services Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact Act
    AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING ARTICLE 7 TO CHAPTER 61, TITLE 44 SO AS TO ENTITLE THE ARTICLE "RECOGNITION OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES PERSONNEL LICENSURE INTERSTATE COMPACT ACT"; TO AUTHORIZE THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO JOIN THE RECOGNITION OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES PERSONNEL LICENSURE INTERSTATE COMPACT IN ORDER TO FACILITATE THE DAY-TO-DAY MOVEMENT OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS) PERSONNEL ACROSS STATE BOUNDARIES IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR ASSIGNED EMS DUTIES AND TO AFFORD IMMEDIATE LEGAL RECOGNITION TO EMS PERSONNEL IN A MEMBER STATE; TO ESTABLISH CERTAIN EMS LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS UNDER THE COMPACT; TO PROVIDE FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF EMS PERSONNEL TO PRACTICE IN ANOTHER MEMBER STATE AND IN REMOTE STATES, WITH EXCEPTIONS; TO ESTABLISH CERTAIN LIMITATIONS ON THE APPLICATION OF THE COMPACT DURING A STATE OF EMERGENCY; TO PROVIDE CERTAIN LIMITATIONS ON THE PRIVILEGE TO PRACTICE UNDER THE COMPACT WHEN AN INDIVIDUAL'S LICENSE IS SUSPENDED OR OTHERWISE RESTRICTED AND TO ENABLE A MEMBER STATE TO TAKE ADVERSE ACTIONS AGAINST AN INDIVIDUAL'S LICENSE IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES; TO GRANT CERTAIN POWERS TO THE STATE'S EMS AUTHORITY; TO ESTABLISH THE INTERSTATE COMMISSION FOR EMS PERSONNEL PRACTICE AND TO PROVIDE FOR ITS MEMBERSHIP, DUTIES, AND AUTHORITY; TO PROVIDE FOR ENFORCEMENT OF THE COMPACT BY MEMBER STATES AND FOR DISPUTE RESOLUTION; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES; AND TO AMEND SECTION 44-61-20, RELATING TO TERMS DEFINED IN THE "EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ACT OF SOUTH CAROLINA", SO AS TO CHANGE THE DEFINITION OF "INVESTIGATIVE REVIEW COMMITTEE". - ratified title
