AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 9-1-1140, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO CREDITABLE SERVICE FOR PURPOSES OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA RETIREMENT SYSTEM, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT EMPLOYMENT BY A REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION CREATED BY A MUNICIPAL GOVERNING BODY IS CONSIDERED CREDITABLE SERVICE UPON PAYMENT OF THE AMOUNT REQUIRED BY LAW FOR ESTABLISHING CREDITABLE SERVICE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Creditable service
SECTION 1. Section 9-1-1140 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 189 of 1989, is further amended by adding at the end:
"Previous service of a member as an employee of a redevelopment commission created by the governing body of a municipality in this State may be established as creditable service upon payment of an amount determined as provided pursuant to Section 9-1-440."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
