A BILL

TO PROVIDE THAT SCHOOL TAXES MAY NOT BE LEVIED FOR LEXINGTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 1 UNLESS THE PROPOSED BUDGET OF THE DISTRICT FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR IS FIRST APPROVED BY A MAJORITY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION REPRESENTING THE DISTRICT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Lexington County School District 1 may not levy a school tax unless the proposed annual budget of the district for the school year is first approved by a majority of the members of the legislative delegation representing the district.

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor and first applies with respect to the 1993-94 school year budget.
