AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 53-5-55 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR LEGAL HOLIDAYS FOR BANKS AND SAVINGS AND LOAN INSTITUTIONS; AND TO REPEAL SECTIONS 53-5-40 AND 53-5-50, RELATING TO HOLIDAYS FOR BANKS AND SAVINGS AND LOAN INSTITUTIONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Holidays for banks, savings and loan institutions
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 53-5-55. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, in South Carolina holidays for banks and savings and loan institutions shall be those holidays observed by the Federal Reserve Bank.
In addition to the holidays provided for in this section, the Governor may declare any other day or days of the year legal holidays for the institutions affected by this section whenever the Governor finds such additional holiday or holidays to be necessary or appropriate."
Repeal
SECTION 2. Sections 53-5-40 and 53-5-50 of the 1976 Code are repealed.
Time effective
SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
