CONGRATULATING ROBERT E. LEE ACADEMY OF LEE COUNTY ON WINNING THE 1995 SCISAA 3A STATE BASEBALL TITLE.
Whereas, the Cavaliers of Robert E. Lee Academy of Lee County have won the 1995 SCISAA 3A state baseball title; and
Whereas, the 1995 championship was the Cavaliers' first state baseball crown since 1984; and
Whereas, Robert E. Lee Academy had an outstanding overall record of 23-7 in 1995; and
Whereas, the Cavaliers lost the first game of the state play-offs and were placed in the loser's bracket; then the team reeled off six straight victories, which included a doubleheader on Saturday, May 20, 1995, over Orangeburg Prep by scores of 6-0 and 6-2; and
Whereas, the Cavaliers' 1995 championship roster included Darren Adams, Bryan Adams, Chris Branham, Robbie Branham, Chip Brown, Joey Brown, Tommy Freeman, Justin Gage, John McKenzie, Wil Rhodes, Daniel Watson, and Chad Wilkes; and
Whereas, the Robert E. Lee Cavaliers' head coach is Buddy Ward, and the team's assistant coaches are Darren Griggs and Donnie Branham; and
Whereas, the Cavaliers exhibited unity, talent, hard work, and determination this year and it all paid off in earning the state baseball crown. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Robert E. Lee Academy of Lee County on winning the 1995 SCISAA 3A state baseball title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the baseball team of Robert E. Lee Academy in care of Head Coach Buddy Ward.
