TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE FORT MILL HIGH SCHOOL "YELLOW JACKETS" BOYS' TENNIS TEAM ON CAPTURING THE 1996-97 STATE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that the Fort Mill High School "Yellow Jackets" Boys' Tennis Team has won the 1996-97 State Tennis Championship; and
Whereas, the Yellow Jackets defeated Myrtle Beach High School 5-1 for the state crown in Columbia; and
Whereas, Coach Willie Ware's outstanding coaching abilities, along with Assistant Coach Craig Sharpe, have enabled the boys' tennis team to clinch the state title for the fourth consecutive year; and
Whereas, for the past four years, the Yellow Jackets have filled the voids left by graduation and seem poised to do the same next year; and
Whereas, the boys' tennis team consists of: Christopher Barnett, Patrick Barnett, John Boetsch, Ryan Brownlow, Jae Caldwell, Reid Coggins, John Cunningham, Joshua Gower, Allen Gowin, Christopher Gowin, Stuart Graham, Kah (Sam) Khet, James Lawrence, Kevin Marinelli, Eric (Damon) Martin, Jr., Matthew (Matt) Pagett, Jorge Rodriguez, Robert (Bo) Saunders, Mark Simpson, and Chadwick Wall; and
Whereas, the success of this fine group of young athletes has brought great pride and recognition not only upon Fort Mill High School and its loyal and enthusiastic students and supporters, but also to the State of South Carolina; and
Whereas, the Yellow Jackets of Fort Mill High School exhibited outstanding talent, hard work, determination, and unity in the season just completed and are highly deserving of recognition for their accomplishments. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extends congratulations to the Fort Mill High School "Yellow Jackets" Boys' Tennis Team on capturing the 1996-97 State Tennis Championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Willie Ware and Jim Boyette, Principal of Fort Mill High School.
