CONGRATULATING THE NORTH AUGUSTA YELLOW JACKETS ON THEIR FIRST BASEBALL STATE TITLE IN FORTY-EIGHT YEARS AS THEY CLAIMED THE AAAA CHAMPIONSHIP CROWN WITH A 25-9 RECORD.
Whereas, the North Augusta Yellow Jackets defeated West Florence 6-2 in Game 2 of the Class AAAA state baseball championship to capture the state title; and
Whereas, that state crown is the first in baseball for the Yellow Jackets since 1949; and
Whereas, the final win was the ninth in the Jackets' last ten outings, and capped their season with a 25-9 record; and
Whereas, Coach Drew Hummel and the team and their fans agree the championship win was an "overwhelming moment"; and
Whereas, the baseball Yellow Jackets deserve the attention of the State of South Carolina for their exciting accomplishments; and
Whereas, the members of the title team are Craig Britton, Wesley Jones, Tyrone Holmes, Cory Jackson, Robert Bromley, Patrick Wright, Patrick Zier, Louis Mackie, Dwayne Stapleton, Kevin Lynn, Ryan Metts, Chris Maciaszek, Marty Bruce, Jamey Crawford, Matt Wilson, Darren Eubanks, Jacob Smith, and T. J. Watkins. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the North Augusta Yellow Jackets on their first baseball state title in forty-eight years as they claimed the AAAA championship crown with a 25-9 record.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to head baseball Coach Drew Hummel for the team.
