VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO HONOR THE RICHLAND COUNTY RECREATION COMMISSION ON BEING AWARDED NATIONAL AGENCY ACCREDITATION BY THE COMMISSION ON THE ACCREDITATION OF PARK AND RECREATION AGENCIES, AND TO COMMEND THE AGENCY FOR THE OUTSTANDING WORK AND DEDICATION IT HAS INVESTED IN SERVING THE RESIDENTS OF RICHLAND COUNTY.
Whereas, the Richland County Recreation Commission is the first and only public park and recreation agency in South Carolina, and one of only sixty-six in the country, who successfully have completed the National Recreation and Park Association's agency accreditation process; and
Whereas, the National Recreation and Park Association and the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration developed this quality assessment method for public recreation and parks' agencies in 1989; and
Whereas, since the inception of this distinguished accreditation of exceptional quality for public parks and recreations, only twenty-two public park and recreation agencies in the southeast have been accredited; and
Whereas, the Richland County Recreation Commission Board of Commissioners, chaired by Mr. James R. Davis, committed the agency to working on this major milestone for the past two years; and
Whereas, over that two-year period, a special team of staffers carefully used the Commission on the Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) to evaluate every aspect of how business is done at the Recreation Commission; and
Whereas, the Recreation Commission successfully met one hundred percent of the thirty-six required standards and ninety-five percent of the remaining one hundred nineteen standards set by CAPRA; and
Whereas, the accreditation provides the residents of Richland County a park and recreation commission that offers assurance and validation of well-administered services in accord with approved practices, increased potential for external financial support and savings to the public, external recognition of a quality governmental service, enhanced accountability to the public and assurance of responsiveness to meet their needs, and improved customer and quality services; and
Whereas, the Recreation Commission is very proud to have achieved this level of national accreditation and recognition affirming the quality of work being done by the agency as it addresses the human development, wellness, and recreation needs of Richland County residents. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, honor the Richland County Recreation Commission on being awarded National Agency Accreditation by the Commission of the Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies, and commend the agency for the outstanding work and dedication it has invested in serving the residents of Richland County.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Richland County Recreation Commission Board of Commissioners, chaired by Mr. James R. Davis.
