A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 53-3-260 SO AS TO DESIGNATE THE MONTH OF APRIL AS "WORKPLACE VIOLENCE PREVENTION MONTH".

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 3, Title 53 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

    "Section 53-3-260.    The month of April of each year is designated as 'Workplace Violence Prevention Month' to raise awareness of the high rate of workplace violence in the health care employment sectors, and encourage health care employers across the State to partner with law enforcement agencies to host workplace violence training programs and to develop effective strategies to reduce the occurrence of workplace violence."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
