A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE HONORABLE WILLIAM SCOTT COGSWELL, JR., OF CHARLESTON COUNTY FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ON BEHALF OF HIS CONSTITUENTS AND THE CITIZENS OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives learned with sincere regret that William Scott Cogswell, Jr., will depart from the House of Representatives at the conclusion of his current term; and

Whereas, born in Charleston on January 14, 1975, he is the son of the late W. S. Cogswell and Edmund and Sarah Aichele Cogswell Rhett; and

Whereas, Representative Cogswell earned a bachelor's degree from University of the South-Sewanee in Tennessee in 1997 and a master's degree in real estate development from Columbia University in 2003; and

Whereas, he married his beloved wife, Lucile Lampton, on September 21, 2002, and together they have reared two fine children, W. Mason and Meade Hamlin; and

Whereas, a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Charleston, he resides in Charleston and works in real estate when away from his duties in the House of Representatives; and

Whereas, devoted to his community, he has served on the Historic Charleston Foundation Board since 2009, as its advocacy chairman since 2016, and on the Peninsula Advisory Commission since 2010, as its chairman since 2016; and

Whereas, he has faithfully served the citizens of Charleston's District 110 in the House of Representatives since 2017, most recently during that time he served on the Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee and on the Rules Committee; and

Whereas, in all of his service, he has provided knowledgeable analysis and collegiality; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives will miss the profound and ardent service that William Cogswell, their friend and colleague, has given to the House of Representatives, and hope that he will enjoy deep fulfillment in the years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Honorable William Scott Cogswell, Jr., of Charleston County for his dedicated service in the House of Representatives on behalf of his constituents and the citizens of South Carolina and wish him much success and happiness in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable William Scott Cogswell, Jr.
