AN ACT TO DIRECT THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO ABANDON A PORTION OF THE OLD UNITED STATES ROUTES 15 AND 301 IN ORANGEBURG COUNTY FROM THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM.
Whereas, the South Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation in 1947 abandoned a section of Old United States Routes 15 and 301 in Orangeburg County between South Carolina Route 6 and Lake Marion because it was replaced by new Routes 15 and 301; and
Whereas, Act 666 of 1978 directed the department to reopen and add this portion of the road to the state highway system to provide access to several choice fishing locations and areas where small boats could be landed; and
Whereas, this portion of old United States Routes 15 and 301 is no longer needed for public use. Now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Road closing
SECTION 1. The South Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation shall abandon from the state highway system that portion of the old United States Routes 15 and 301 in Orangeburg County between Route 6 and Lake Marion where this road terminates at the waters of Lake Marion and abuts real property of the South Carolina Public Service Authority.
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
In the Senate House June 4, 1992.
