TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, RELATING TO REPORT CARDS (REPEAL), DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 1970, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Board of Education, relating to report cards (repeal), designated as Regulation Document Number 1970, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
SUMMARY AS SUBMITTED BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.
This regulation states that schools, kindergarten through grade 8, "shall have an appropriate means of reporting to parents." We propose that this regulation be repealed in order to consolidate and condense State Board of Education regulations which address this issue. Similar wording is being incorporated into R43-231, Defined Program for Grades K-5; R43-234, Defined Program for Grades 6-8; and R43-232, Defined Program for Grades 9-12. This regulation is not necessary.
