A JOINT RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS MAY UTILIZE INMATE LABOR UNTIL JULY 1, 2007, DURING THE CONSTRUCTION OR RENOVATION, OR BOTH, OF A FOOD SERVICE FACILITY AT THE STEVENSON CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION AND THE RELOCATION OF A HOUSING UNIT FROM THE FORMER GREENWOOD WORK RELEASE FACILITY TO THE STEVENSON CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Utilization of inmate labor by the Department of Corrections

SECTION    1.    The Department of Corrections may utilize inmate labor until July 1, 2007, to perform any portion of the construction or renovation, or both, of a food service facility at the Stevenson Correctional Institution and the relocation of a ninety-six bed housing unit from the former Greenwood work release facility to the Stevenson Correctional Institution.

Time effective

SECTION    2.    This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

Ratified the 4th day of May, 2005.

Approved the 9th day of May, 2005.
