AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 604 OF 1994, RELATING TO THE CREATION OF THE REGISTRATION AND ELECTIONS COMMISSION FOR OCONEE COUNTY, SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE COMMISSION TO APPOINT AND REMOVE THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Commission, must appoint and remove executive director
SECTION 1. Section 1 of Act 604 of 1994 is amended to read:
"Section 1. (A) There is created the Registration and Elections Commission for Oconee County. The commission may be composed of not less than five and not more than nine members who must be appointed by a majority of the Oconee County Legislative Delegation, including the resident Senator, who are appointed for terms of two years and until their successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies on the commission may be filled by appointment in the manner of original appointment for the unexpired terms only. The members of the commission shall receive compensation as may be appropriated by the county council.
(B) The executive director must be appointed and may be removed by a majority vote of the commission."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
