The Senate assembled at 12:00 Noon, the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.
A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:
In Genesis we read:
"After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: 'Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward'."
(Genesis 15:1)
Please, let us bow in prayer together:
Holy God, You clearly blessed and guided Abram, later known as Your dedicated and faithful servant, Abraham. O Lord, we ask that, just as You granted a vision of what could be to Abraham, You do the same for each of these, Your servants in the Senate of South Carolina. May they be inspired to serve You well, O God. May they accomplish meaningful results for the people of this State. And may they all find themselves richly blessed by You. In Your loving name we pray, Lord. Amen.
