AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 583 OF 1994, RELATING TO THE BEAUFORT COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS AND REGISTRATION, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION SHALL DESIGNATE THE CHAIRMAN AND THE VICE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD, AND TO PROVIDE THE VICE CHAIRMAN PRESIDES IN THE ABSENCE OF THE CHAIRMAN AND ASSUMES THE CHAIRMANSHIP WHEN THE POSITION BECOMES VACANT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Delegation designates officers; when vice chairman presides or assumes chairmanship
SECTION 1. Subsection (D) of Act 583 of 1994 is amended to read:
"(D) The county legislative delegation shall designate a chairman and vice-chairman from among the members appointed to the board. In the absence of the chairman, the vice chairman shall preside at the meeting. In the event the position of chairman becomes vacant for any reason, the vice chairman shall assume the chairmanship."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
